I am a qualified and accredited integrative counsellor. I have 7 years' experience working with adults in a counselling service, a hospice and in private practice.
At times, life can be pretty confusing, and you can feel overwhelemed or stuck. You may have experienced recent change or loss that impacted you in an unexpected way. Life events such as these or other life events can leave you feeling unsettled and unsure, struggling to make sense of it all. Or even struggling to make sense of who you are.
Psychotherapy and counselling offer a unique opportunity to explore concerns, challenges, or anxieties you may be experiencing. Having someone to talk to, in confidence, can help identify obstacles and can facilitate growth and a new awareness of yourself in the world.
I am qualified as an integrative counsellor. This means I draw on different models of psychotherapy and counselling in my work. However, my foundation framework is the psychodynamic model. This means I listen carefully to your previous experiences and your family history to get a sense of how you understand them. How you make sense of past relationships and events can influence your present relationships and life, your sense of identity and your sense of belonging.
My role is to offer a confidential, non-judgemental, empathic space in which to explore these things. Talking through your difficulties and feelings can bring relief, understanding, and, at times, can be challenging. The therapeutic relationship supports this unfolding process of self-discovery. In the therapeutic space, it is possible to reflect, gain insight and experience that change is possible.
